Privacy
Privacy statement · Updated 19 May 2026
This site is a static editorial reference. It does not run accounts, comments, newsletters or affiliate tracking. The privacy footprint is correspondingly small and is set out plainly here for the avoidance of doubt.
What is collected
- Web server logs. The host that serves the pages records, for each request, the requesting IP address, the requested URL, a timestamp, the HTTP status returned and the user-agent string sent by the browser. These logs are kept by the host for a short retention period for the purpose of operating the service and identifying abuse.
- Email correspondence. If a reader sends an email to the editorial address, the message is held in the editor's mailbox until the correspondence is concluded, then deleted. The message is not added to any list or shared with any third party.
What is not collected
- No analytics script is installed on these pages. No first-party or third-party cookies are set by the site.
- No advertising, retargeting or affiliate-tracking pixels are present.
- The site does not host comment threads, accounts or newsletter sign-ups, so no email addresses, names or other personal details are collected through it.
Hosting
The site is served as static HTML and SVG from a commercial hosting provider. The hosting provider's own privacy notice applies to the technical logs described above.
Rights
A reader who wishes to know what, if any, technical information has been retained against an identifying IP address may write to the editorial address and a search of the available logs will be carried out. The request, the search and the reply are kept on file for the period required under the UK General Data Protection Regulation.
